Herkimer College 5th Annual Student Film Showcase Travels to Little Falls

Herkimer College and Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts will present the college’s 5th Annual Student Film Showcase from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 at the Valley Cinemas in Little Falls. The presentation will feature original works produced by students in the Communication Arts: Digital Filmmaking curriculum at Herkimer College.

Students enrolled in the curriculum's capstone course are required to produce a work that expresses the culmination of skills acquired in shooting and editing, sound recording, scriptwriting, and digital media production and design. Works at the showcase may be drama, comedy, documentary, music video or other genres.

This year's event will highlight 6 works from students in the major. Running times for each piece range between 5 and 15 minutes in length. There will be brief introductions for each piece and the opportunity for questions and answers afterward with the filmmakers.

Saturday’s showcase will be a reprise of the annual event held the night before, on the Herkimer College campus at 7:00 pm in the Hummel Center Amphitheater. Both events are free and open to the public.

This presentation is made possible with the arts center’s new partnership with Valley Cinemas. For more information contact Robert Gassmann, 315-866-0300, ext. 8233 or at gassmanrj@herkimer.edu or Kevin Mihaly, 315-823-0808 or at director@mohawkvalleyarts.org.
