Herkimer College to Present The Bystander

Herkimer College will present THE BYSTANDER, an award-winning one-man show addressing bystander intervention and sexual assault prevention, on Wednesday, September 28 at 1:00in the Sarkus-Busch Theater, located in the College Center. The program is open to the public free of charge.

THE BYSTANDER, written and performed by nationally touring solo theater performer Tim Collins, is an innovative and timely multi-character one-man play. Created in conjunction with domestic violence prevention agencies, THE BYSTANDER contemplates the issue of bystander intervention and models effective strategies for intervention. The performance will be followed by a Q&A about the issues brought up in the play, including personal and social responsibility, consent, and the meaning of community.

Since 2000, Tim Collins has toured educational one-man shows to venues across the country, including colleges, universities, high schools, libraries, youth detention centers, and military bases. He is a recipient of numerous grants including the Wallis Foundation Grant, is a two-time winner in the United Solo Theater Festival, NYC, and is a member of the United Solo Academy. Tim is trained as a Violence Prevention Advocate and educator.
