Herkimer College Displays Newly Expanded Fallen Stars Memorial

The newly expanded Fallen Stars Memorial is on display through Monday, April 10th at Herkimer College in the Robert McLaughlin College Center lobby.

The Fallen Stars Memorial project began in 2008 to honor Veterans from New York State who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. The display was recently expanded to include a map depicting the hometowns of the soldiers killed in conflict, flags representing each of the branches of the military, the POW/MIA flag, the Flag of Heroes with names of the first responders killed on 9/11, the Flag of Honor with names of all victims of the 9/11 attacks, biographies, and notebooks listing those names on the Flag of Heroes and the Flag of Honor.

Since its inception, the Fallen Stars Memorial has been displayed at more than 80 locations and has travelled over 9,000 miles to be seen by thousands of people throughout New York State. The display also includes brochures providing the history of the Fallen Stars Memorial project, and a list of the 317 names on the Fallen Stars Memorial.

The Fallen Stars Memorial is being displayed at Herkimer College in connection with a Veterans Services Fair taking place on Thursday, April 6th from noon to 2:00 p.m. in the Hummel Corporate & Professional Education Center.
