The 38th Herkimer County Arts and Crafts Fair will take place Saturday and Sunday, November 8 and 9 at Herkimer College. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The fair is known for featuring creative vendors who offer high-quality, fine art and unique products. This year’s vendors will offer photography, jewelry, clothing, specialty foods and more.

The fair is a juried show, allowing exhibitors to submit their work in several categories to earn first place and honorable mention recognition. This ensures that patrons can view and purchase original, high quality crafts and artwork.

Linda Scherz Allen, of Rome, NY, is a new exhibitor this year. Owner of Adirondack Basketry, Allen has been weaving for 28 years, and has taught basket weaving throughout the eastern United States at conferences, basketry guilds and art centers. She has exhibited for several years around the country, and chose to stay closer to home this year. She recently participated in juried shows in Syracuse and Oneida. Her basketry work includes many different materials and styles. “My work ranges from simple, utilitarian to intricate and decorative baskets.” More information is available at www.AdirondackBasketry.com.

Robin Miller bracelet
Robin Miller, of Argee Bargee Designs, will travel from Doylestown, PA to exhibit her handmade jewelry including one-of-a-kind bracelets, necklaces and earrings. “It has a kind of antique, vintage look, but at the same time it is a little bit funky, sort of whimsical,” said Miller who is always updating her designs. Miller offers pieces in all different price ranges, so there is something for everyone. It is Miller’s first time participating in the Herkimer County Arts and she is excited because our community has not seen her work before. “It is important to me to be in a show of high caliber,” Miller said. She has exhibited in other areas, mostly in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. “And instead of going to the mall, going to an arts and crafts fair is a chance to get some unique gifts,” she explained.

Admission is $4. Plenty of free parking is available adjacent to the show, with easy access off NYS Thruway exit 30. Food service is available and the venue is handicapped accessible throughout.

All proceeds benefit the Herkimer County College Foundation to provide scholarships for Herkimer County Community College students.
