Generals' Giving Spirit

Herkimer College was honored to once again participate in Gram Lorraine's Children's Christmas Program, gathering holiday gifts for children in need in the Mohawk Valley. For nearly three decades, the Program has provided thousands of deserving children with items of clothing and a toy, book or game of choice, along with winter coats.

This year, College students, staff, and faculty were among the many Gram Lorraine Program sponsors. According to 2022 organizer, Ray Lenarcic, professor emeritus of history at Herkimer College, involved families are designated by school personnel, including nurses and faculty/staff. Age groups vary. Some schools cover newborn to sixth grade while others may cover pre-K to sixth. According to Lenarcic, with the increasing hardship in Herkimer County, they were bracing for a record number of children this year.
