This course is designed to familiarize students with major myths of the world and the context of the cultures that created them. It will include some classical Greek and Roman myths. Other myths may include Sumerian, Norse and other archetypal legends. The material will be covered in a variety of ways. Mythological works are typically chosen from Greek tragedies and epics, Gilgamesh, Norse eddas (eddur), American Aboriginal and other aboriginal legends, and some Eastern myths.
