Herkimer College Appoints Assistant Professor of Engineering

Herkimer College announces the appointment of Karen M. Karker of Cazenovia, NY to the position of assistant professor of engineering. Karker will be responsible for teaching courses in physics and mathematics, student advisement and curriculum development.  

Karker was most recently employed at Pall Corporation in Cortland as a laboratory manager. She has also worked as a project engineer at CDH Energy Corporation and a development engineer at Schoeller Technical Papers. She holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Buffalo and a Master of Science in environmental engineering from Syracuse University. She holds New York State teacher certification in mathematics and chemistry, grades 7-12, and is a member of the Society of Women Engineers and the Mathematical Association of America.

Herkimer College’s Engineering Science curriculum provides a sound academic core preparing students to transfer into baccalaureate engineering programs. Transfer opportunities are available in mechanical, industrial, chemical, electrical, civil and environmental engineering.
