A Message from the President: Terri Grates Day, PhD
With Gratitude This Thanksgiving
As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to share my heartfelt gratitude with all of you. This season of thanks holds special meaning for me as I continue to settle back into the Mohawk Valley, a place I am proud to call home.
Over the past 90 days, I have been deeply grateful for the many new relationships I’ve built and truly humbled by the outpouring of support from both within the college and throughout the Mohawk Valley. I’ve also found great joy in reconnecting with old friends and classmates who share the same deep pride in our community and our college. The warmth and encouragement I’ve felt since returning home remind me each day why Herkimer is such a special place.
I am especially thankful for the students who entrust us with their higher education journeys. Your courage, resilience, and ambition inspire everything we do. And to our faculty and staff, thank you for working tirelessly to help others achieve their goals. Your dedication and compassion embody the very best of Herkimer County Community College.
As we reflect on this year’s theme, Meaningful by Design: A Year of Possibilities, I am reminded that the most meaningful work we do is grounded in gratitude, relationships, and purpose. Together, we are building a future that honors our past and embraces new opportunities as we look ahead to celebrating Herkimer County Community College’s 60th anniversary in 2026.
This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for each of you, for your trust, your partnership, and your commitment to our shared mission. I invite you to take a moment to see what fellow Generals are thankful for this year.
May your Thanksgiving be filled with warmth, fellowship, good food, and if you so choose, football!
Herkimer Proud,
Terri Grates Day, PhD
