Herkimer College to Host “And 2 Make 3 Storytellers”

Herkimer College will host professional storytellers Eliud and Merideth Nieves, also known as “And 2 Make 3 Storytellers,” on Tuesday, March 24 at 12:30 p.m. in Alumni Hall located in the Robert McLaughlin College Center.

An author, artist and educator, Eliud Nieves has been in the education field for over 3o years and has written many stories and plays. Eliud’s interest in storytelling began with his mother telling him bedtime stories in his native Puerto Rico. The typical Puerto Rican folktale always began with “Once upon a time and 2 make 3;” hence the storytelling duo’s name.

Merideth Nieves was an elementary music teacher for nearly 15 years during which time she used all forms of performance with her students, including the art of storytelling. Raised on Aesop’s Fables, Kipling’s Just So Stories and The Brothers Grimm, Merideth draws on a wealth of memories in preparing her stories. Merideth is an accomplished vocalist who is experienced in a wide range of styles and often uses music to enhance her storytelling.

The program is free of charge and open to the public. For more information, visit www.and2make3.com
