Herkimer Faculty Promoted

The Herkimer College Board of Trustees, at the March 25 meeting, took action to recognize the following employees through the approval of promotion in rank, effective September 1, 2015.

Promoted from instructor to assistant professor were Stephen Sydoriw, Physical Education, and Lindsey Taube, Mathematics.

Sydoriw was appointed to the faculty in 2010. He holds an A.A.S. from Mohawk Valley Community College and a B.S. and an M.S. from SUNY Cortland.

Lindsey Taube was appointed to the faculty in 2007. She holds a B.A. from Nazareth College and an M.S. from Utica College of Syracuse University.

Dr. Karen Jones was promoted from assistant professor to associate professor of Physical Therapy. Jones was appointed to the Herkimer College faculty in 2002 and received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2008. She holds an A.A.S. from Herkimer County Community College and a B.S. and D.P.T. from Utica College of Syracuse University.

Promoted from associate professor to professor were Gale Farley, Photographic Technology, and Robert Gassmann, Radio/TV Broadcasting.

Farley was appointed to the faculty in 1995. He holds a B.S. from Sam Houston State University; and an M.F.A. from Southern Illinois University.

Gassmann was appointed to the faculty in 1990. He holds a B.A. from Pennsylvania State University and an M.A. from the University of Alabama.

Interim President Nicholas F. Laino said “I am pleased that our Board of Trustees recognized these faculty for their hard work and dedication through their promotion in rank. I would like to congratulate these individuals on the commitment to teaching they bring to the classroom each day.”
