HERKIMER, NY – For the first time this season and second time overall, Herkimer Generals women’s soccer player Teigha Ward was selected as NJCAA DIII National Soccer Player of the Week.

Ward – an Education: Physical Education major at Herkimer College – netted 11 goals and accumulated four assists in the Generals first two wins of the season over Bergen Community College and Union County College. The forward amassed four goals and four assists against the Bulldogs in the team’s opener, then scored a career-high seven goals against the Owls, helping Herkimer outscore their opponents 21-to-0 thus far in the season. Ward currently has five hat tricks and eight games with two or more goals in 20 games for the Generals.

“Teigha is a tremendous talent who has a knack for putting balls in the back of the net,” said Head Coach Ryan Brooks-Newton. “The work she put in during the offseason had her ready to contribute immediately. Additionally, our supporting cast is getting her the ball in spots to be successful, and she’s finishing like I expect her too.”
