Generals tally road win against Broncos

DELHI, NY – Netting their most goals on the road to date this season, the #2 Herkimer Generals women’s soccer team defeated SUNY Delhi on Monday (9/14) 7-0, increasing their current win streak to six games.

Herkimer (6-0, 0-0) jumped out to a 4-0 lead over the Broncos in the first half on goals by Grace Johnson (Tully, NY), Alexys Bolton (Middleville, NY) and Alyssa Lepper (Remsen, NY). Johnson netted two goals in the first and 37th minutes on assists from Teigha Ward (Ilion, NY) and Saige Hampston (Poland, NY) to give the freshman six goals, which is tied with Michaela Bianca (Guildeland, NY) for the second most on the team. As for Bolton and Lepper, they scored in the seventh and 43rd to increase the lead to 2-0 and 4-0. It was Bolton’s third goal this season and Lepper’s first as a General in 22 games.

Scoring the final three goals for the Generals in the second half were Ward and Nicole Doolen (Ilion, NY). Ward scored in the 59th and 65th on assists from Bianca and Jessica Hagadorn (St. Johnsville, NY), giving the forward 17 goals which is the second most in the nation. As for Doolen, the sophomore netted her fourth goal of the season in the 81st minute on an assist from Kalli Warmingham (Newport, NY).

Herkimer continues their away stand on Wednesday (9/16), traveling Dryden, NY to face #9 Tompkins-Cortland Community College. The Panthers had a four-game win streak recently snapped by #4 Genesee, losing to the Cougars 4-0, now 4-2-1 on the season. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
