Sasaki scores winner in second overtime to defeat Panthers

DRYDEN, NY – Traveling to Tompkins-Cortland Community College on Wednesday (9/16), the #7 Herkimer Generals men’s soccer team needed two overtimes to defeat the Panther 1-0 for their second win against Mid State Athletic Conference opponents.

Herkimer (5-2, 1-1) outshot Tompkins-Cortland 19-to-2 in the 101 minutes played. Getting off the last shot for the game-winner was Yuu Sasaski (Chiba, Japan). The sophomore took a pass from Captain Femi Kaffo (London, England) inside the 18 for the chip shot goal, giving Sasaki three goals and Kaffo four assists this season.

Collecting his fifth shutout at goalie was Morrice Baker (Bridgeport, CT). The sophomore held the Panthers scoreless with three saves in the 101 minutes played.

Herkimer’s next game is Sunday (9/20), playing in their second of four consecutive away games to end the month of September. They’ll face Clinton at the SUNY Plattsburgh Soccer Complex at 4:30 p.m. It will be their third game against a conference opponent. Clinton is currently 1-4-1 and 1-1 in their last two games.
