HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer Generals women’s soccer player Sydney Stanley was selected a second time in three weeks as the NJCAA DIII National Goalie of the Week, not allowing a goal this season in the team’s first eight regular season games.

Stanley - a Business: Business Administration major at Herkimer College - went 3-0 last week which included a 2-0 win over #9 Tompkins-Cortland Community College. In that game she tied her season-high of three saves in a game, then outdid that with a lofty seven save game against Clinton in the team’s third consecutive away game, helping the Generals to their eighth consecutive win.

Coming into this week, Stanley was number one in the nation in minutes played (720), goals against (0), goals against average (0), save percentage (1.000), wins (8) and shutouts (8).

“Sydney has had an impressive year thus far at her position,” said Head Women’s Soccer Coach Ryan Brooks-Newton. “Her communication with the defense has made it difficult for opponents to get good looks on goal. I’m always impressed with the amount of time she is willing to put in to be better.”
