Captain Kaffo selected as Region III Athlete of the Week

HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer Generals men’s soccer player Femi Kaffo was selected by the Region III as Male Athlete of the Week, accumulating two goals and three assists in two games played last week.

Kaffo – a Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies major at Herkimer College – got his first assist of the week in a double overtime win over Tompkins-Cortland, allowing teammate Yuu Sasaki (Chiba, Japan) to score the game-winner in the 101^st minute, defeating the Panthers 1-0. The captain then doubled that output against Clinton Community College, in the team’s second consecutive away game, assisting on two goals, but also scoring twice himself for six total points in the game. It was the midfielders’ second multi-goal performance of the season, totaling five goals and six assists in eight games as a General. His six assists ranks 11^th in the nation.

“Femi has been fantastic thus far into the season,” said Head Men’s Soccer Coach Pepe Aragon. “He has an unbelievable work rate and is great at attacking opposing defenses.”
