UTICA, NY – Playing their first regular season game on the road against #3 Mohawk Valley Community College, the Herkimer Generals women’s basketball team had their three game win streak snapped with a 65-43 loss to the Hawks on Wednesday (11/11).

Herkimer (3-1, 1-1) kept it interesting into the second quarter until a flagrant foul was called on a fast break attempt, in the favor of Mohawk Valley. A 15-10 deficit for the Generals quickly jumped to 22-10 deficit in the matter of a couple minutes, doing everything they could behind Khristaijah Jackson’s (Philadelphia, PA) 13 first half points to keep it close. Jackson ended with a season-high 24.

Coming out of halftime with a 16-point deficit (31-15), Herkimer rode Jackson and Emerald Pett (Utica, NY) for the final 20 minutes of regulation. Both combined for 14 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Hawks won the game 65-43. Pett finished with eight points in the contest.

Up next for Herkimer is Hudson Valley on Saturday (11/14). The Vikings have only played one game thus far in the season, losing it to Cayuga 45-38. They’ll have fresh legs coming into Herkimer with tip off scheduled for 1 p.m. in the varsity gym.
