Jackson scores season-high 39 in loss to Panthers

(Jackson has scored in double figures in every game played this season, going for 39 against the Panthers Wednesday).

HERKIMER, NY – Almost erasing a 17-point halftime deficit on Wednesday (11/18) in the varsity gym, the Herkimer Generals women’s basketball team got their first home loss of the season against Tompkins Cortland, falling 93-81.

Herkimer (4-2) scored a season-high 81 points behind Khristaijah Jackson’s (Philadelphia, PA) 39, which also was a season high. It helped the Generals get within two points of a tie (80-78) with 2:36 left in regulation, but the Panther ended the game on a 15-to-1 run for the 12 point victory.

Joining Jackson in double figures was Angela Porcelli (Marlboro, NY) and Emerald Pett (Utica, NY). Porcelli sank five three-point field goals en route to 18 points, while Pett totaled 12.

The team will play five of their next seven games on the road, beginning with a trip to play Corning on Saturday (11/21). The Red Barons are 3-2 and currently ninth in the region. Herkimer is only a couple spots ahead of them at fifth in the region. Game time between these two team’s on Saturday is scheduled for 1 p.m.
