HERKIMER, NY – For the first time during his tenure as Head Women’s Soccer Coach for the Herkimer Generals, Ryan Brooks-Newton was awarded with Mountain Valley Conference Co-Coach of the Year in 2015.

Brooks-Newton - who just finished his second year with the women’s programs - led them to consecutive Mountain Valley Conference and Region III Championships in 2015, finishing in fourth place at nationals. It was the first time the program had ever won back-to-back regional championships, finishing the season with a 15-3 record thanks in part to an unblemished record against nationally ranked opponents (5-0). In two years, Brooks-Newton has faced 10 nationally ranked opponents during the regular season, boasting an impressive 9-1 record which has helped him to a 25-3 record before regional and national competition.

“I appreciate sharing Co-Coach of the Year honors and can’t help but thank all of my mentors and supporters throughout the years,” said Brooks-Newton. “They’ve all helped me become the coach that I am today, including my assistant Jason Palkovic. He doesn’t get enough credit for it, but he’s helped tremendously in making our program the best it can be.”
