Gladstone still a top conference with 228.50 average

UTICA, NY – Competing in their third tournament of the season on Friday (1/29), and second time at AMF Pin-O-Rama, the Herkimer Generals bowling program produced a fifth place and second place finish.

Matt Gladstone (Norwich, NY) ranks as the top bowler in the Mountain Valley Conference with more than two thirds of the season in the books. His 622 series in match three and 652 series in match four gives him a 15 pin lead going into the last conference event at SUNY Adirondack February 9th.

Behind Gladstone, Brendon Budd (Norwich, NY) stands in 20th place after a 617 series in match three and a 605 series in match four, Ean Hayner (Kingston, NY) stands at 27th, Hunter Guest (Middleburgh, NY) stands at 29th place, Marshall Sterling stands in 33rd and Stephen Cross stands at 38th.

The men slipped to fourth place overall after a 1-7 record at their last conference event hosted by Mohawk Valley. The Herkimer men are 6-10 overall, ahead of Adirondack with a 4-12 record. Hudson Valley stands in 3rd with a 7-9 record, Mohawk Valley stands in second with an 8-8 record and Schenectady stands firmly in first place with a 15-1 record. The men could finish as high as second with a strong finish to their final conference event.

As for the women, they are now in sole possession of second place after 2-2 record Friday, now at 3-5 overall. Schenectady stands in first place with an 8-0 record while Hudson Valley stands in third place with a 1-7 record.

Korena Kinney's (Taberg, NY) 677 series in match three and 608 series in match four land her in fourth place overall in the conference. Molly McGuire's (Solvay, NY)  646 series in match three and 624 series in match four have her in fifth place in the conference overall. Megan Durgan (Rome, NY) 683 series in match four moved her up to seventh place overall in the standings. Ashley Salisbury (Sherrill, NY) stands in 15th and Alysha Buck (Syracuse, NY) currently holds the 17th spot in the conference.

Herkimer heads to the Boulevard Invite on Sunday, February 7th and finishes their conference season on February 9th in Adirondack. On Sunday, competition in Schenectady begins at 1 p.m.
