Generals come alive in fourth quarter to defeat Adirondack

(Khristaijah Jackson led the Generals with 24 points Wednesday against the Timberwolves).

(Emerald Pett finds Alex Hardy for two of her 10 points at home on Wednesday).

HERKIMER, NY – Using an 18-0 run in the span of five minutes during the fourth quarter of Wednesday’s (2/10) home game, the Herkimer Generals women’s basketball team came back to defeat SUNY Adirondack 55-42.

Herkimer (10-10, 6-6) found themselves down four (37-33) to start the fourth quarter, needing buckets from Khristaijah Jackson (Philadelphia, PA) and Alexandria Hardy (Kerhonkson, NY) to tie the game at 37 apiece with 8:08 left in regulation. Jackson and Hardy both led the Generals in points against the Timberwolves, finishing with 24 and 10 points respectively.

From there, Herkimer scored 14 more unanswered to give them a 51-37 lead before Adirondack was able to stop the bleeding. Multiple Generals got in on the action during the run, beginning with a layup from Emerald Pett (Utica, NY) on a Kristy Wallace (Frankfort, NY) assist. Then Jackson scored eight of the next 12 points, giving way to a Hannah Potter (Pulaski, NY) baseline jumper and Hardy steal and layup which completed the 18-0 run. Wallace had two and Potter had four points in the contest.

Scoring the final two baskets of the game for Herkimer were Jackson and Hardy, one on a set piece, the other on an offensive rebound and put-back, helping the Generals avenge a two-point loss (60-58) to the Timberwolves back in December on the road.

Up next on Saturday (2/13) is DII Genesee who is currently 6-19 overall. The Cougars have lost their last five straight while Herkimer is 2-2 in that same amount of time. Tipoff between both teams is scheduled for 1 p.m.
