Men’s Soccer spring schedule features DI and DII competition

HERKIMER, NY – Beginning in April, the Herkimer Generals men’s soccer team will play five matches against four NCAA Division I and one NCAA Division II teams. Herkimer opens up their spring season April 9th with an exhibition at Le Moyne College. They’ll play St. Bonaventure at Le Moyne in Syracuse, NY with play scheduled for 4 p.m. Former General Jimmy Calderon (New Rochelle, NY) will be playing for the Bonnies in that exhibition.

From there, Herkimer will travel to Colgate University on April 17th to compete in the CNY Cup tournament. Following that exhibition, the Generals will hit the road again the following weekend April 23rd to take on Syracuse University, a team which advanced to the national final four in 2015. Former Herkimer forward Ben Polk led the Orange in scoring that season and was drafted in the first round of the MLS Super Draft in 2016.

Herkimer’s final exhibition will take place at Wehrum Stadium on April 29th. The Generals will host Hartwick College, a program which won the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Division I national tournament last fall.

“This is a great spring schedule for us,” said Head Men’s Soccer Coach Pepe Aragon. “Every game is a huge challenge which is great for our players that are moving on to play at these levels. It also gives our coaching staff a good luck at our freshman and players that transferred in this spring.”
