Generals take over Cougars

9 17WSOCNewsRecapGameStory

Saturday afternoon our Herkimer Generals women's soccer took on the Clinton Community College Cougars.  The Generals kept tight control of the ball for the majority of the game. Especially in the first half where the Generals scored all six of their goals in the first 39 minutes.

Herkimer's first goal was scored just three minutes into the game by #13 Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY) assisted by #6 Alexys Bolton (Middleville, NY).  Blumenstock's second goal of the game came shortly thereafter at the 9 minute mark assisted by freshman #11 Danielle Charland (Chateaugay, NY).  The Cougars defense held strong enough for the next twenty minutes which kept the score 2-0.  But it was the work of #7 Jenna Rogers (Port Leyden, NY) which opened the floodgates of the Herkimer offense.  At the 29 minute mark Rogers scored her first goal of the day assisted by Blumenstock.  Remarkably just 24 seconds later Rogers scored another assisted by Bolton.  The Generals' final goals were scored by sophomore #12 Saige Hampston (Poland, NY) assisted by #3 Alyse Griffin (Camden, NY); and #2 Alexis Ramos (Utica, NY) assisted by Hampston.
