Generals take their first fall to Hornets

9 24WSOCNewsRecapGameStory

Saturday (9/24) proved to be a tough day for the Herkimer Generals women’s soccer team as they played region III #1 SUNY Broome.  Herkimer goalie Honesti Crochran (Wingdale, NY) was truly tested as the SUNY Broome offense held control of the ball for the majority of the game.  Crochran set a season high 10 saves but unfortunately for Herkimer the Hornets were still able to find the back of the net.  SUNY Broome netted their first goal 17 minutes into the first half and their second just seven minutes later.  Generals’ freshman #13 Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY) answered back with a goal assisted by #11 Danielle Charland (Chateaugay, NY) with just seven minutes left in the half.  But the SUNY Broome offense was relentless and scored their third goal at the last few seconds leaving the score 3-1 at the half.

Unfortunately the Hornets defense held the Generals scoreless in the second half as their offense continued to add more.  Two more goals came from SUNY Broome to finish the game 5-1.  Herkimer left Binghamton on a bad note but they were determined to get the season back on track as they faced off against Niagara Community College yesterday.  Follow the link to read more about that story here.
