3 Goals for #3 Generals

The #3 Herkimer Generals men’s soccer team defeated the Hudson Valley Vikings in last night’s Region III match up at Wehrum Stadium.  Herkimer sophomore #10 Dajhal Kelly (Saint Kitts, Caribbean Sea) proved to be the catalyst of this match as he scored his first goal just three minutes into the game off of a feed from #24 Luke Murphy (Glasgow, Scotland).  The Generals and Vikings continued to battle but this ended up being the only goal of the first 45 minutes. 

The second half was more fruitful for the Generals.  Kelly scored his second goal of the game unassisted off of a free kick.  The score remained 2-0 for the majority of the rest of the game until the 80 minute mark when Generals’ captain #11 Eddie Speed (Chester, England) was awarded a direct kick and took full advantage.  He blasted a one hop shot to the right side of the goal which Hudson Valley goalkeeper let slip by him on his attempt to catch it. 

Herkimer remains focused and energized as they look forward to their next game as they host the Northern Virginia Nighthawks 12 p.m. Saturday (10/1) at Wehrum Stadium.
