The Herkimer Generals swimming and diving team hosted region III Jamestown Jayhawks and Genesee Cougars in their first invitational of the season Saturday November 19th.  Generals’ freshman Patrick Fleming (Johnstown, NY) claimed first place in the men’s 1 meter diving, earning a total score of 213.15.  Herkimer claimed many second place finishes including one from sophomore Jake Cardinal who swam the men’s 50 yard freestyle in 24.15 seconds, just .27 seconds behind the leader.  The men in that race were swimming so ferociously for the lead the pool looked like a boiling pot on a hot stove.

Another second place finish went to Nicholas Lanckton who swam a grueling 66 lap race versus Genesee’s Alex Dedoszak and Denzel Flowers.  Lanckton finished the 1650 yard freestyle in 21:29.06.

For the women Herkimer earned second in the 200 yard medley relay. Freshman Daniela Barrera (Cali, Columbia) earned second in the 200 yard freestyle, and 50 yard freestyle.  Sophomore Jensen VanNostrand earned second in the 200 yard IM, and Morgan Boone won second in the Women’s 1 meter diving.
