Herkimer, NY-- Little Falls standout defender Caira Miles has committed to play collegiate soccer for the Herkimer Generals. Miles has been a staple in the Mounties' defense for 4 years. She helped guide Little Falls to their first New York State Regional Championship and a berth in the state semi-finals. She helped Little Falls set a school record for shutouts in a season with 15. During her impressive career, Little Falls has won 2 Sectional Titles & 3 straight league championships. Caira herself garnered several honors of her own. She was a 3 time League All-Star in 2014, 15, & 16, All-Mohawk Valley 2nd Team All-Star, team captain, and she won the 2016 Regional Sportsmanship Award. As a defender she has amassed 7 goals & 10 assists. Her High School Coach Sal Marchese had this to say about Caira, “It’s been an honor and privilege to coach Caira.  One of the most competitive players, who always played with so much heart and determination.  She is athletic and skillful enough to play any position. As a Senior Captain she filled a team need at center defense where she displayed her great instinct, anticipation and willingness to block any shot.  I am so proud of her and look forward to seeing her excel at the next level.” Caira has no doubt had a tremendous impact on her high school team’s success. Herkimer Head Coach Jason Palkovic echoed Marchese’s comments, “From the first moment I saw Caira play I knew she was a player I needed to have. She has so many intangibles you can’t teach at this level. She has mental & physical toughness. She is also not afraid to sacrifice for the betterment of the team. I am looking for her to come in and lead from the back while starting our attack. I am ecstatic and thrilled to have Caira join the Herkimer family!”
