Rochester, NY-- The men's and women's track and field team traveled to compete in the SUNY Brockport Golden Eagle Invitational Friday, April 14th.  The Generals remained well within the pack as many of our athletes finished respectably among other Division II & III NCAA institutions as well as fellow Division III NJCAA programs.

Most notable Herkimer track and field athletes of this meet include Herkimer, NY native Malik Briggs who finished first of 21 competitors in the high jump clearing 1.93 meters.  Briggs also placed fifth out of 26 competitors in the long jump leaping 6.22 meters.

Other honorable performances in the long jump were Marcus Burkle (Clinton, NY) finishing 13th at 5.7M, Austin Green (Dolgeville, NY) finishing 20th at 5.4M, Michael Marcucci (Buffalo, NY) finishing 21st at 5.39M-- Marcucci also finished 15th of 54 in the 100M dash at 11.61 seconds—Andrew Amatuzzo (Fredonia, NY) finishing 23rd at 5.31M, and Malik Handford (Little Falls, NY) finishing 25th at 4.68M.

On the women’s side the most notable performance came from another local product Chyanna Bernier (Ilion, NY) who one might remember helped lead the Generals Cross Country team to their first ever Region III Championship this past fall.  Bernier ran in the top three for the women’s 10,000M run finishing in 40:43.18.  She then turned her sights tackling the 1500M finishing in the middle of the 40 runner pack at 21st with a time of 5:21.06.
