Murphy Scores Two in Generals Win Over Monroe CC
Herkimer, NY – Sophomore Luke Murphy (Glasgow, Scotland) continued his scoring ways netting a goal in each half. Murphy followed up on a shot from freshman Diego Bastone (Hopewell Junction, NY) in the 2nd minute of play. Bastone took a shot from six yards away where Monroe’s GK Michael Hunter made the initial save and Murphy tapped in the rebound. The Tribunes tied the game in the 26th minute off a goal from Matt Murray. Kevin Kabongo beat a Generals outside back and served the ball into Murray for the goal.
The Generals responded in the second half off a goal from freshman Tyler Dobinson (Exeter, England) in the 71st minute. Bastone played the ball into Dobinson who took on two defenders and scored from 20 yards out. Murphy finished out the scoring for the Generals in the 84th minute off an assist from sophomore Gus Ward (London, England). Sophomore Roandre Wollery (Hartford, Conn) had several great saves in 90 minutes of action including a breakaway block late in the second half.
