Herkimer College Appoints College Prevention Coordinator for Alcohol and Substance Abuse

Herkimer College announces the appointment of Laura Jacquays, Newport, NY, to the position of college prevention coordinator for alcohol and substance abuse. Jacquays will be responsible for the day-to-day activities and organization of the campus community coalition and its work on the college environmental prevention objectives as well as guiding the coalition to develop and implement strategies that will lead to long-term involvement of community institutions, organizations and individuals in college underage drinking and drug abuse prevention.

Jacquays was most recently employed at the Herkimer County Prevention Council, Ilion, NY, where she was the prevention services coordinator, responsible for educating and counseling Herkimer College students on the dangers of alcohol and other substances. Jacquays is a certified Credentialed Prevention Professional.

Jacquays graduated from Herkimer College with an associates degree in liberal arts. She received her Bachelor of Science in human development from Empire State College and her master’s degree in human services from Capella University.
