Herkimer College Establishes New Transfer Agreement with SUNY University at Buffalo

Herkimer County Community College recently entered into a new articulation agreement with SUNY University at Buffalo. The agreement creates a seamless transfer into Buffalo’s Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree program for Herkimer College students who complete the Liberal Arts and Sciences: Science (AS) degree program.

The first phase of the collaborative program will consist of the completion Herkimer’s Liberal Arts and Science: Science (AS) degree program, which satisfies the University at Buffalo’s PharmD program required prerequisite courses. The second phase will consist of completion of the four-year curriculum of the Doctor of Pharmacy program at the University at Buffalo. Under this agreement, the student would then receive an associate’s degree from Herkimer College and, upon approval of the University at Buffalo, the student will complete four years of professional study and requirements for the Doctor of Pharmacy degree. This is a six year program developed between Herkimer College and the University at Buffalo that allows a participating student the opportunity to receive an associate’s degree and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

Additional requirements of the agreement include achievement of a minimum overall grade point average of 3.5; a minimum grade point average of 3.5 for prerequisite course science and mathematics; fulfillment of specific course work outlined in the agreement; and completion of the SUNY University at Buffalo application process. Additionally, each prerequisite course must successfully be completed with a grade equal to, or greater than, a C (2.0) by the end of the summer semester prior to fall admission.

Herkimer College has more than 150 transfer agreements with four year colleges and universities in both the private sector and SUNY. More than 60 percent of Herkimer College students transfer to continue their education after graduation.
