Kozecke comes close to perfection in first action

(Adam Kozecke bowled a 298 in his first competition this season).

Queensbury, NY – The Herkimer Generals Bowling team picked up action again this Wednesday (1/29) in the SUNY Adirondack Tournament, with the men finishing fifth (2689 pins) and the women finishing third (2314 pins).

Standing out for the men was Adam Kozecke (Endwell, NY). In his first match this season, Kozecke led the team with 675 pins (191, 186 and 298) knocked down in three games. He needed two games to warm up before recording a 298, the second-best high score in the Mountain Valley Conference this season. Kozecke had a perfect score going into the final frame, earning the spare due to a malfunction with the lane he was attempting on.

After Kozecke, Trevor Marston (Georgetown, NY) and Christopher LaJuett (Troy, NY) had solid performances, getting close to a 600 series. Marston bowled a 588 (192, 193 and 203), averaging 196.0 per frame, while LaJuett bowled a 582 (216, 172 and 194), averaging a 194.0.

Rounding out the men was Joseph Hilts (Marcy, NY), Thomas Carlson (Apalachin, NY) and Philip Tanner. Hilts finished with 493 (158, 176 and 159) Carlson finished with 351 (104, 96 and 151) and Tanner finished with 299 (102, 87 and 110).

For the women, Selena Barber (Mayfield, NY) again led the way with a 509 series (137, 157 and 215), increasing her pin totals in each game. Jena Soper (Harrisville, NY) and Rebecca Fogerty (Ilion, NY) weren’t too far behind, bowling a 487 and 485 series. Soper was at her best in the third game, tallying a 172, while Fogerty had her best showing in the first game, knocking down 196 pins.

Rounding out the women’s side was Destiny LeRoy (Sodus, NY), Desiree Gallup (Wells, NY) and Danielle Flander (Fonda, NY). LeRoy had a 464 series (148, 155 and 161), Gallup had a 362 (137, 117 and 108) and Flander had a 336 (114, 124 and 98).

The Generals will be back in action tomorrow (2/1). They’ll bowl at the AMF Bowling Center in Utica, NY. Teams are schedule to start at 3 p.m.
