Generals win Coliseum Soccer Club Championship
Herkimer, NY – The Herkimer men’s soccer team defeated Mercyhurst CC 3-0 to win the Coliseum Soccer Classic championship. Sophomore captain Tyler Dobinson (Exmouth, England) scored the first goal of the game off an assist from freshman Minato Nakayama (Hyogo, Japan) in the 26th minute of the game. Nakayama served his corner kick near post to Dobinson for the first touch finish. Sophomore Shemar Blair (Brampton, Ontario) scored in the 39th minute off an assist from sophomore Ryheim Hinds (Bridgeport, CT). Sophomore Mupenzi Irakiza (Syracuse, NY) finished off the scoring in the 41st minute from an assist from freshman Ikiel Collins-Brown (Highland Mills, NY). Collins-Brown played the ball to Irakiza who was on the back post for the one touch tap in. Sophomore goalkeeper Tinius Klausen (Oslo, Norway) recorded three saves in 80 minutes of action. The Generals now travel to Region III opponent Onondaga CC to take on the Lazers. Kick-off is at 6:30pm.
