Generals drop home opener to Mohawk Valley

Herkimer, NY - It was a battle of nationally ranked teams to open the home portion of the 2021 Spring Schedule for the Herkimer College Women's soccer team on Friday night at Wehrum Stadium as the #5 Generals hosted the #3 Mohawk Valley Hawks. After a scoreless first half, the Hawks came up with 3 goals early in the second half and held on for a 3-1 win to drop Herkimer's record to 0-2 on the season.

Hailey Traut (Frankfort, NY) scored her first collegiate goal late in the second half to cut the deficit to 2 but Herkimer could get no closer. Goalie Kurstin Gay (Herkimer, NY) tallied 14 saves in the loss.

The Generals will look for their first win of the season as they travel to Sanborn, NY on Friday afternoon, April 16th to take on Niagara County Community College. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
