Herkimer College appoints academic support center specialist

Herkimer County Community College has appointed Gillian Perry to the role of Academic Support Center specialist.

Perry, of St. Johnsville, NY, is a Herkimer College alumna, earning an associate degree in business administration in 2017. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an M.B.A. in technology management with a concentration in accounting and finance from SUNY Polytechnic Institute.

Perry previously served as a professional tutor for accounting, business, and mathematics in the College’s Academic Support Center (ASC) since 2017. She also worked as an Embedded Tutoring Program assistant and was named the program’s lead embedded tutor in February 2020. As a program leader, Perry helped assess the ETP by collecting, analyzing, and presenting data about its success and worked to recruit new faculty and tutors to the program. 

In her new role, Perry will manage all front desk operations in the ASC, including supervising student receptionists, coordinating room reservations, and reviewing security and all hardware/software functions related to ASC services. The ASC specialist is also responsible for all departmental data collection, analysis, and reporting and provides administrative assistance to the Embedded Tutoring Program. She will continue to serve as the lead embedded tutor.
