Generals Knock Off Number 8 Ranked North Country

Herkimer NY- The Herkimer Generals women's basketball team hosted number eight ranked North Country CC Saints in a important Region 3 matchup. The Generals jumped out ahead in the first half 31-27 to cruise to a 61-52 win. Herkimer was efficient on the night going 44% from the field, compared to North Country's 29%. 

The Generals were led by Freshman forward Jenna Faulkner(Otego,NY) who turned in a triple-double finishing the day with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 7 blocks. In addition, Faulkner finished with 3 steals and 2 assists. Guards Monica Hartleib(Canjoharie, NY) and Ajla Sedjic(Utica, NY) went a combined 7 for 14 from the 3 point line. Hartleib finished the night with 13 points. 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Sedjic added 12 points and 2 rebounds. 

Head Coach Matt Hazzard noted, "tonight was a great team win. We dressed 8 players and they all contributed when we needed them. It was a gutsy performance and we really showed up on the defensive end holding North Country CC to 52 points. I'm really proud of the entire group".

The Generals are back in action Sunday 1/23 when they travel to Springfield Tech for a 1 o'clock start.
