Generals Sweep Road Doubleheader Against Broome CC
Binghamton NY- On Tuesday the Herkimer Generals women’s softball team traveled to take on The Broome CC Hornets in a Region III Matchup. The Generals exploded in the 3rd inning of both game scoring 4 in the first game and 5 in the second game en-route to an 11-3 win in game 1 and 10-2 win in game 2.
The Generals were led offensively was led by Marissa Correra (Schenectady, NY) went 5-7 with 4 RBI’s and 5 Runs scored and 5 stolen bases on the day. In game 1 by Michaela Ponticello (Gloversville, NY) went 2-4 with 4 RBI’s with a double and a stolen base. In game 2, Makenna Hill went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and a stolen base. Kassandra Granobles (Miami, FL) tacked on 3 RBI’s and a run scored for the Generals.
Game one starting pitcher Madison Prior (East Greenbush, NY) struck out 4 in 4 innings only giving up 3 hits and 1 earned run. Hannah Derock (Hunt, NY) followed Prior, closing out game 2 with 2 strikeouts in one inning of work. Game two starter Madison Puppalo (Adams, NY) went the distance surrendering 4 hits in 6 innings of work. Puppalo finished the day with 5 strikeouts and 1 earned run.
The Generals are back in action on Thursday (4/14) when the travel to Onondaga for another Region III Doubleheader starting at 3 PM.
