Generals Go 6-2 on the Week

Herkimer NY- The Herkimer Generals had a busy week, playing 8 games in 7 days. The Generals hosted Adirondack CC on Tuesday and Genesse CC on Thursday then traveled to Finger Lakes CC on Friday and Corning CC on Sunday.

On Tuesday, the Generals offense exploded for 35 runs against Adirondack. Michaela Ponticello(Gloversville, NY) finished the day with 5 hits, 5 runs, 3 RBI's and a home run. Kassandra Granobles(Miami, FL) had 3 hits 3 runs, 3 rbis and 2 SB on the day. Makenna Hill(Ohsweken, ON) ,Maiya Reinhart(Batavia, NY) and Madison Puppalo (Adams, MA) added home runs for the Generals, driving in a combined 10 runs while scoring 10 on the day. The Generals starting pitchers Hannah Derock(Hunt, NY) and Wilmot(Cazenovia, NY) picked up wins on the days. Derock struck out 7 and surrened 3 runs while Wilmont stuck out 4, tossing 4 innings of shutout ball. 

On Thursday, Herkimer hosted Genesee CC , winning 16-4 and winning a 7-0 forfeit in the night capper. Reinhart and Puppalo each had 2 hits, 3 runs, 2 RBI’s and a  to home run lead the Generals. Ponticello added 3 hits and 2 runs and a RBI. Madison Prior(East Greenbush, NY) picked up the win for the Generals firing 4 innings of 1 hit ball, not surrendering any earned runs while picking up 6 strikeouts.

Friday, Herkimer traveled to Finger Lakes, beating the Lakers, 20-0 and 10-2. Puppalo went 4-5 with 2 home runs, 7 RBI’s and 4 runs on the day. Reinhart had 5 hits while driving in 3 RBIs and scoring 4 runs. Granobles added 4 hits and 3 runs and her first home run of the season. Derock and Puppalo picked up the wins on the day. Derock surrendering only 1 hit while striking out 10 and Puppalo struck out 3 in 3 innings.

On Sunday, the #3 ranked Generals traveled to Corning to take on the #2 ranked Red Baron’s. The Red Barons topped the Generals 10-2 and 15-8. Hailey Hunter went 3-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI’s and a home run. Granobles and Puppalo added a hit and run for Herkimer. Puppalo and Prior took loses for the Generals who look to bounce back next week against Monroe CC (5/4) before traveling to Buffalo to take on Erie CC (5/7) and Niagara CC (5/8) this weekend in the last regular Region III weekend of the season.
