Men’s Soccer Opens up Season with a 9-0 Win

Herkimer, NY – The Generals opened up their season with a 9-0 win against visiting Jefferson CC.  Sophomore All-American Ali Somow (Utica, NY) scored the first goal of the season in the 7th minute off an assist from freshman Zain Ibrahim (Manhattan, NY)  Sophomore Kyle Middleton (Dundee, Scotland) scored the second goal of the game in the 12th minute off an assist from Ali Somow.  Sophomore Nichlas Kamfjord (Sandnes, Norway) scored the next two goals of the game.  Kamfjord scored his first goal in the 32nd minute off an assist from freshman Jon Sandvik (Skien, Norway).  Kamfjords second goal came in the 35th minute off of a penalty kick.  Freshman Shuntaro Morimoto (Kanagawa, Japan) scored his first collegiate goal in the 49th minute off an assist from Zain Ibrahim.  Freshman Wilman Miranda (Mamaroneck, NY) scored the sixth goal of the game in the 63rd minute off an assist from sophomore Yamato Fujishima (Saitama, Japan).  Freshman Aseong Choi (Yangsan, South Korea) scored the last three goals of the game.  His first goal came in the 69th minute off an assist from Yamato Fujishima.  Aesong Choi scored his second goal in the 82nd minute off an assist from freshman Suleiman Abukar (Utica, NY).  Aesong Choi finished off the scoring in the 88th minute off an assist from Sophomore Kane Fisher (Chesterfield, England)

Freshman goalkeeper Cathal Carney (Springfield, Massachusetts) made his first start of the season recording two saves.  Redshirt sophomore Jon Bovair (Canastota, NY) recorded two saves in the final twenty-five minutes.

The #2 nationally ranked Generals return to action on Saturday where they will host Finger Lakes CC.  Kick-off is at 12:00pm.
