Herkimer College to Host American Red Cross Blood Drive

Herkimer College will host an American Red Cross blood drive on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Alumni Hall, located in the Robert McLaughlin College Center.

The American Red Cross is facing a national blood shortage. Back-to-school season, summer travel, and an already active hurricane season have hindered blood donations, resulting in a shortfall of about 30,000 blood donations in August alone. September is Sickle Cell Awareness and Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, both of which require significant support from blood donors to ensure the blood products needed are readily available. The blood collected at our first blood drive of the semester is already earmarked for someone in need. Donors of all blood types are encouraged to give, and there is an emergency need for type O blood. All donors will receive a Red Cross T-shirt.
