HERKIMER, NY – Last Wednesday (11/13) during the Men's Soccer National Championship Banquet at the Radisson Hotel in Utica, NY, a former General Damion Bennett was inducted into the Men's Soccer Hall of Fame.

Bennett was a key member of the college's back-to-back DIII National Championship teams in 1999 and 2000. In his two seasons for the Generals he led them to a 39-3-2 overall record, captaining the 2000 team to an undefeated season (21-0-0). In Bennett's sophomore season he was named first-team in the Mountain Valley Conference and first-team to the Region III team. Bennett also was named a NJCAA and NSCAA All-American, leading to a Division I scholarship to Bowling Green University in Ohio where he started every match as a junior and senior. The Falcons, just like the Generals named Bennett a captain in his final year with the team.

Head Coach Pepe Aragon stated that, "Damion was one of the classiest players that I have ever coached. He was a true leader, both on and off the field. He was a fierce competitor who refused to lose, captaining our team that only demanded the best. I am so proud that he graduated from both Herkimer and Bowling Green, it's a great example of what a true Hall of Famer should be."
