Emily Rexford named 2nd Team All-Conference

HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer Generals women’s basketball player Emily Rexford, Canton, NY, was named 2nd Team All-Conference for her play in 2013-2014.

The Liberal Arts & Sciences: Social Science major at Herkimer College put together quite a season, averaging 13.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.9 steals per game. It helped her team to a 5-2 record down the stretch and possible playoff berth.

It all culminated against conference rival Mohawk Valley Community College when the freshman scored a season-high 24 points, thanks in part to 100 percent shooting from three-point land, which was nothing new since she was sixth in the nation in three-point makes with 73. In total, Rexford made a three-point field goal in all but two games this season, amassing four makes from deep in six games and five in three games. Her 36.3 percent three-point field goal percentage kept teams in check around the perimeter throughout the season, easing up the rest of her team to make plays around the basket.

Head Coach B.J. Gouger reiterated this by saying, “Emily was the key to our offense for most of the season. She made defenses play us honest, opening up numerous opportunities for our team on the offensive end of the floor.”
