Bowling competes in Nationals

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The Herkimer Generals had a strong showing from Destiny LeRoy (Sodus, NY) and Selena Barber at Nationals last weekend. Each student-athlete finished in the Top 35 in total events, helping their team to an 8th place finish (10003 pins). As for the men, their 14th place finish (10316 pins) came from solid contributions from Adam Kozecke (Endwell, NY), Trevor Marston (Georgetown, NY) and Christopher LaJuett (Troy, NY).

Picking up from where they left off at Regionals, the men had five bowlers finish in the Top 100. Kozecke finished with an average of 165.9 in all events, Marston finished with a 163.1, LaJuett finished with a 152.3, Joseph Hilts (Marcy, NY) finished with a 137.0 and Philip Tanner (Deposit, NY) finished with a 135.5. Helping Kozecke was a solid individual performance in singles, capturing 72nd place with a 502 series (159, 134, 209). Helping Marston and LaJuett was their 1048 in doubles. It gave the Generals a Top 25 finish.

For the women, LeRoy placed 27th in all events, knocking down an average of 160.3 pins. Her teammate Barber, just seven pins below, averaged 153.6, giving her 34th place. Both LeRoy and Barber bowled in doubles together, capturing 13th place, knocking down 984 pins, the closest the Generals came to a Top 10 finish through two days of competition.

Standing out for the women in singles was Rebecca Fogerty (Ilion, NY). Her 483 series (198, 146, 139) got her 28th place, outdoing her teammates Barber by 38 pins. Barber finished with a 445 series (143, 134, 168), LeRoy finished with a 441 series (116, 162, 163), Desiree Gallup (Wells, NY) finished with a 425 series (125, 150, 150), Danielle Flander (Fonda, NY) finished with a 364 series (124, 124, 116) and Jena Soper (Harrisville, NY) finished with a 359 series (144, 127, 88).
