HERKIMER, NY – The Herkimer Generals and new Head Coach Ryan Brooks-Newton have worked hard to get local talent to the women’s soccer team next season, getting commitments from Poland’s Alyssa Lepper and Central Valley’s Teigha Ward.

Both midfielders had tremendous success in their varsity careers, each serving five years for their respective school. For the Tornadoes, Lepper scored 55 goals and accumulated 100 assists, helping her team to a State Championship as a junior, while Ward scored 101 goals and accumulated 57 assists for the Thunder, helping her team to sectionals in four seasons.

As seniors, both players accounted for 54 goals, with Lepper tallying 20 and Ward tallying 34 on her way to the CSC 1st Team for the fifth time. Ward was also named a Section 3 All-Star as a senior as well.

The Generals had an impressive season in 2013, qualifying for a Region III playoff game. With Newport, NY native Kalli Warmingham having success as a freshman, earning All Northeast Region Team honors for scoring five goals and assisting 11 times in 15 games, look for more local talent to push the Generals deeper in playoffs.
