Overtime game to Lakers slips through fingers

HERKIMER, NY – After a nice 19-point win over Hudson Valley, the Herkimer Generals Women's Basketball team lost games to Corning Community College (59-43) and Finger Lakes Community College (72-65) on consecutive days over the weekend.

Herkimer (2-5, 1-1 MVC) had their best showing on Sunday (11/24) when the Lady Generals scored an impressive 31 points in the second half, the team's fourth highest point total in any half this season, putting the game into overtime.

Helping the team to that total was Emily Rexford (Canton, NY), Shahadah Williams (Syracuse, NY) and Shi Williams (Syracuse, NY). Each finished with double-digits, led by Shi Williams 13, Shahadah Williams 12 and Rexford's 11.

The hot shooting however disappeared in overtime, with the team getting outscored 14-to-7.

Other Lady Generals contributors on Sunday were Kaylyn Dickerson (Douglasville, GA), Samantha Randio (Ravena, NY), Korey Bunal (Rome, NY) and Alyssa Craig (Fonda, NY). Dickerson finished the game against the Lakers with six points, six rebounds, two assists and one block; Randio finished with nine points, three, rebounds, three assist and three steals; Bunal finished with eight points, six rebounds and one block; Craig finished with six points, six rebounds, one steal and one block.

Due to the holiday, the next game the Lady Generals will play is 12 days away. On Saturday, December 7th, the team will host Broome Community College at 1 p.m. It will be the first of two consecutive home games.
