Women’s basketball looking to regroup over break

SYRACUSE, NY – Riding high into Onondaga this weekend, on a two-game win streak, the Herkimer Women's Basketball team failed to keep the streak alive against the Onondaga Lazers, losing 94-56.

The Generals (4-6, 1-1 MVC) found themselves down by double-digits in the second half (58-30), making it difficult to pull this one out in regulation. Big contributors on Saturday (12/14) were Emily Rexford (Canton, NY), Korey Bunal (Rome, NY), Alyssa Craig (Fonda, NY) and Shahadah Williams (Syracuse, NY). Rexford scored a team-high 16 points, grabbed four rebounds, assisted twice and stole it twice. It was Rexford's sixth time leading the Generals in scoring, averaging 13 points per game in 10 contests.

As for Bunal, she finished with nine points, 11 rebounds, one assist, three steals and one block; Craig finished with nine points, five rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block; Williams finished with nine points, 12 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.

Herkimer will look to get back up on their horse in January for the New Year. They'll travel to Fulton-Montgomery Community College to face the 8-2 Raiders, who've won their last five straight. It will be a Mountain Valley Conference game, thus it matters just a little more.
