HERKIMER, NY – For the second time this season, men’s soccer player Ben Polk (Banbury, UK) was named NJCAA DIII National Player of the Week, scoring seven goals and accumulating one assist in two games.

Polk, a Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies major at Herkimer College, has been a force for the Generals all season at forward. The sophomore has scored a goal in every game, accumulating a season-high five goals against Clinton recently. Impressively enough, Polk managed a hat trick within the first three minutes of play and five goals in the first half against the Cougars, never seeing the pitch in the second half. It was his seventh multi-goal performance of the season at that time, now with eight after last night’s 5-0 win over North Country, establishing himself as the nation’s leading scorer with 21 goals.

“Ben continues to get better and better, scoring some pretty impressive goals this season,” said Head Men’s Soccer Coach Pepe Aragon. “He fits into our system perfectly and has proven to also be a great team player!”
