Herkimer College Programs Added to Open SUNY+
State University of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher today announced that two Herkimer College degree programs, Paralegal (A.A.S.) and Quality Assurance-Business (A.S.), have been added to Open SUNY+, the university system’s signature online learning initiative. An additional 54 degrees and certificates at 16 other SUNY schools were have also been added to Open SUNY+. While all of SUNY’s online offerings, including more than 400 degree programs and 12,000 course sections, are a part of Open SUNY, those powered by “Open SUNY+” feature additional support services for students and faculty.
“Herkimer College students enrolled in Open SUNY+ programs will benefit from increased access to quality higher education, additional support services and enriched opportunities for degree completion,” said Michael Oriolo, Dean of Academic Affairs at Herkimer College. Open SUNY+ will complement the full array of support services offered online by Herkimer College’s Internet Academy.
Herkimer’s Paralegal program prepares students for positions in law offices, banks, real estate firms, brokerage houses, federal, state and local government agencies and other institutions requiring employees with legal training. Herkimer College’s Quality Assurance – Business program focuses on developing quality assurance and quality control skills to be used in either a business management or technician role in manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, health services, food and drug production, or environmental/construction services. Graduates of the Quality Assurance – Business program will be prepared for entry-level positions in quality assurance departments in a variety of private-sector industries or for transfer to a four-year college or university.
