HERKIMER, NY – Sophomore midfielder Danielle Nicosia was named 2014 Mountain Valley Conference (MVC) Most Valuable Player, helping the Herkimer Generals women’s soccer team capture the conference by season’s end, going undefeated in seven games against MVC opponents.

Nicosia, a Business: Business Administration major at Herkimer College, played well in 13 regular season games, racking up nine goals and three assists, but more importantly helped her team remain nationally ranked throughout the season, defeating four nationally ranked opponents on their way to an 11-2 record. The resident of Oneonta, NY had a five-game stretch where she scored nine goals, getting multiple goals in four consecutive games, two of which came against conference teams.

“It’s good to see a player like Dani get recognized for her abilities on the field,” said Head Women’s Soccer Coach Ryan Brooks-Newton. “Her hard work has paid off in games, allowing other coaches to see what I see every day. Dani deserves all the recognition in the world for her abilities, she’s a great teammate, person and student-athlete. I wish I could have more like her!”
