Williams Region III Player of the Week

HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer Generals women’s basketball player Shahadah Williams was named Region III Player of the Week last Tuesday, helping her team to victories over two Mid-State Atlantic Conference opponents at home.

Williams, a Liberal Arts & Sciences: Generals Studies major at Herkimer College, averaged 18 points, 18 rebounds, six assists, seven steals and 1.5 blocks against Corning and Finger Lakes. The forward had a season-high 21 against the Red Barons on Saturday, but also added 17 rebounds, seven assists and eight steals in a 71-69 win. The following day against the Lakers Williams had a season-high 19 rebounds, 15 points, five assists, six steals and three blocks. It helped Williams to her fourth double double in six games and Herkimer’s first winning streak of the season.

“Shahadah had a terrific weekend for us,” said Head Women’s Basketball Coach B.J. Gouger. “She is extremely active on both sides of the ball, making a big impact on the defensive side. She has a knack for getting her hands on the basketball which has resulted in some positive things for our team!”
