Williams, O’Garro and Rexford will Generals over Panthers

DRYDEN, NY – After three consecutive losses on the road, the Herkimer Generals women’s basketball team righted the ship Sunday (12/8) defeating Tompkins-Cortland Commmunity College in their varsity gym 63-41, now winning three of their last four games.

Herkimer (4-4, 1-2) has come alive defensively in each of their wins, allowing under 55 points per contest. The Panthers were 14 points below that average by the end of the game Sunday after only being down by single digits at half (36-28).

Helping Herkimer build the double digit lead was Shahadah Williams (Syracuse, NY), I’Asia O’Garro (Copiague, NY) and Emily Rexford (Canton, NY). Williams game-high 19 points was two points below her season high, but her 12 rebounds gave the forward six total double doubles this season in eight games. As for O’Garro and Rexford, both contriuted double figures also. O’Garro finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Rexford finished with 10 points, four rebounds and three steals.

The Generals next game is at home against Monroe Community College on Wednesday (12/10), finishing with two home games this week before winter break. The Tribunes are 8-1 and undefeated against DIII competition. Game time in the varsity gym is set for 6 p.m.
